artists that deserve more love in 2023
Chelsea Cutler
Chelsea Cutler is a gem that deserves more appreciation in 2023. As a singer-songwriter and producer, she creates these alt. electronic-pop masterpieces that seamlessly weave in deep, intimate and personal touches throughout her art.
Chelsea’s songs are like pages straight out of a journal or diary set to music. Her music is so full of heart. She gets honest and it shows. I can hear a lot of my own internal dialogue in her lyrics which is so magical.
I would define her style as poetic and introspective without being rushed. When I listen to her music, I’m transported to a prismatic chamber where I can float with my slowed and stretched feelings. Time feels a little longer, syllables are elongated and hazey smoke fills in the surrounding white spaces. I can take a moment to feel and reflect without the frills or alarms pulling me away.
If you’re going to listen to any of Chelsea’s songs, these are the three I recommend you start with. There are my favorites she’s done without any features:

Loote
This American duo is still so underrated it boggles my mind. Their pop vibes are responsible for some of my favorite hits of all time and also got me through the longest hot girl walks of 2020 lockdown.
Their music is groovy, catchy and danceable. A pretty perfect trinity for repeatability. The energy and auras of their art is artistically contagious. The lyrics are sung with dynamic emotion while the beats consistently make me want to jump and yell along to the chorus.
It’s tricky for me to write a lot more about their music without just playing the discography to you. Just take a listen and let me know how you would describe the vibes. My personal absolute top bop by them is tomorrow tonight followed by:

PRETTYMUCH
Anyone else also been looking for something to scratch that boyband itch? There has been a One Direction sized hole in my heart since 2016. Although nothing will ever be able to truly fill this whole besides maybe getting to see them live on a reunion show, the newer boyband PRETTYMUCH will carry me over until then.
This now foursome group is infused with catchy hooks and beats. The pop and R&B band that know how to make a song that’ll get you dancing. They’re very definitely a boyband, so get ready for some cheesy lyrics and fun, easy going bops. Their music is easy-going, the kind that makes you wanna roll the windows down like you’re in high school again just looking for a good time. It’s nostalgic and direct music so far centered around the feelings of being young and uncomplicated.
From my list below, Jello will get you up dancing to the fun and cute lyrics, Summer on You is a young love, swoon-worthy tune @ your 17 year old self, and Lying is really all about that main character energy from a boy admitting that he still misses you real bad.
